More on Cardinal Arinze
Vatican signs off on Mother Teresa's miracle

Funny - I'm writing about her today.

BTW, thank you so much for all your "love your enemy" suggestions. They're great, and so are you!

Archbishop Milingo is back - in a village outside Rome

Catholic Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, who created a scandal when he married a South Korean woman last year, will start his new Catholic ministry in a village outside of Rome late this month, Vatican officials said Tuesday.Milingo, 72, has been a controversial church figure for a decade. But after a yearlong retreat in Argentina, the Zambian-born Milingo said in a televised interview he now recognizes his past actions were mistakes and he was eager to put them behind him. But he also said he was not yet prepared to meet with Maria Sung, the South Korean woman Milingo married last year in a mass wedding in New York led by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Well, thanks for the link...but be warned it's in Italian.

The Pope has appointed Francis Cardinal Arinze Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Cardinal Arinze, a frequent traveler to this country and speaker, is the author of a few books, including this one on the Eucharist that my husband edited.

Interesting. In Wisconsin, a bishop has banned Catholic organizations from participating in the CROP walk:

Bishop Raymond Burke of the Roman Catholic Diocese of La Crosse last month directed parishes not to participate in the CROP Walk because Church World Service, which organizes the event, finances family-planning services in developing nations and distributes condoms in African countries.
Church World Service, a relief, development and refugee assistance ministry of 35 denominations, helps fight hunger through partner agencies in more that 80 countries.
Judy McDowell, director of community fund-raising at Church World Service, acknowledged that some partner agencies offer family-planning services as one strategy to combat hunger. Of the 195 U.S. Roman Catholic dioceses, only La Crosse and Rockford, Ill., are not participating in this year's CROP Walk.....

Perpetual Adoration outside Chicago
St. Therese of Lisieux

St. Therese on prayer:

Outside the Divine Office which I am very unworthy to recite, I do not have the courage to force myself to search out beautiful prayers in books. There are so many of them it really gives me a headache! and each prayer is more beautiful than the others. I cannot recite them all and not knowing which to choose, I do like children who do not know how to read, I say very simply to God what I wish to say, without composing beautiful sentences, and He always understands me. For me, prayer is an aspiration of the heart, it is a simple glance directed to heaven, it is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy; finally, it is something great, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus.
